The solar cells are encapsulated beneath high transmission tempered glass. The rear surface of the module is completely sealed from moisture and mechanical damage. Construction of the module minimizes weight while providing a durable, protective environment for the solar cells. Considering the fact that solar panels are supplied with MC connector, You will need to buy aditionally cable adapter (not included into the set).

Sturdy aluminum frame protects the solar panel from deformation during transportation, high winds, bad weather. The firm frame allows to fix the panel in the places which are difficult to reach: on the roof, on lampposts, in forest lodges. It allows to fix the solar panel firmly on the sides of cars or boats, its sturdy design won't let the panel deformate and fail on the move. Pretty Nice Panel

The panel construction is sturdy, and it was well packaged. It arrived in perfect condition. The HQRP 60 watt solar panel is a monocrystalline panel with good efficiency. The watts per unit area is about 15% higher than polycrystalline panels.I've been using the panel for a month at the time of this writing. It's used to charge a battery bank currently composed of four Optima D31-M batteries, through a Kintrex SPC0601 regulator. A Blue Sea 9001e Selector Switch is used to select which batteries (in groups of two, or all four) are feeding a Cobra CPI 2575 2500 watt inverter. A Schumacher SEM-1562A Charge Maintainer is available to charge the bank if the sun doesn't cooperate for an extended period, and was used to keep the bank charged prior to receiving the solar panel.This battery bank is primarily intended for back up during power outages, but with this capacity available and unused most of the time, I installed a circuit that feeds some lamps in the living room. Otherwise I wouldn't benefit from the system on a daily basis. I typically select one bank (two batteries) to supply this circuit, leaving a minimum of two fully charged batteries in case of a power outage.To properly evaluate the output, you would need to connect the panel directly to a load that is adequate to draw full rated current. When you go through a regulator and into a healthy battery bank, that maximum current is nearly impossible. The charge level of the bank will dictate the current that it may draw, regardless of what the solar panel's potential maximum current output is. Using an ammeter between the panel and regulator, with a partially discharged battery bank, I conclude that there is no reason to expect that the panel can't achieve it's specified output.My south-facing mounting has no issues with shadows being cast on the panel. I've observed that the "charging" light on my regulator turns on nearly as soon as daylight appears, but at this time of year, even on a clear day, it's at least an hour before significant charging current is generated. The reverse occurs as sunset nears. On overcast days, if you can't distinguish where the sun is behind the clouds, there is very little useful current generated, although the "charging" light on the regulator is on. If you can see where the sun is behind the clouds, the charge current will do some good.My conclusion that it's a good panel, and have ordered a second unit, even though the price has increased by ten dollars. I've also ordered an MPPT regulator to improve the combined output.This solar stuff is not economically feasible for most purposes, but there is peace of mind in knowing that a little bit of my electric bill is reduced, and that I've got several days of essential power use available in case of an outage. It's kind of addicting, and I'm already planning on further enhancements to my system.

This panel is well built and works as expected. At $4 per Watt it is not the best deal on the Internet, but the average quality of the panel seems quite nice. (I will update this if something changes)

Misleading description

I thought that this is a solar battery charger, but no... You have to purchase a different component before you can charge batteries with sunlight. I found that to be quite misleading.

Oustandingly flexible and tough

It's true, this doesn't have any inherent solar panel - you can buy all manner of different ones (one that clips nicely to the back (low power) or a big folding panel that gives 25W - you choose based on what you need.The unit itself is very well made - is an excellent 10xAA trickle charger and has a 12V cigar lighter socket for 12V output as well - (no messing with all those funny tips from other manufacturers). e.g. plug in your iphone/ipod/cellphone 12V cable and your off.The only thing really missing with this unit nowadays is a USB socket, but again, easy to get a 12V male to USB adapter.Best thing is that you can plug into the 12V charging socket in a vehicle and charge while driving (something that is often available in 'wilderness areas' where no AC is available), you can use AC to pre-load the cells before you head out or trickle them, and then solar is available when all else fails.It also feels incredibly sturdy (like the way that old Motorola phones used to) and feels as though it would survive a drop.Careful if you fly with this though...with 10 AAs in, it has an x-ray profile that looks remarkably like the magazine for an assault rifle...found that out the hard way!!Excellent component in a AA based backup power setup...
