Product Description

Go Power! 30 Amp Transfer Switch is used to hardwire inverters into a system where there is an alternative source of AC. This transfer switch is made to only allow one source of AC power to pass through it to the loads and can handle 30 Amps of service. This ensures that the inverter will not be damaged if the generator or utility power is hooked up while the inverter is running as well as well as contains all instructions.

5Works great 3 years later
By Altpower
I purchased the Power 30 Amp Automatic Transfer Switch nearly three years ago.I installed the switch to provided uninterupted service between my Honda 3000 EU and my Magnum 2800 watt inverter. The switch has worked flawlessly for nearly three years, providing uninterupted power when the generator shuts down. I have observed no chatter or RF problems with this switch, and it works fine in any position. The only complaint I have is that the case is a bit weak, however it is rated for indoor use only so this was not a problem during installation. If you are looking for a 30 amp transfer switch that holds up well to time and nameplate ratings at a reasonable cost, consider this switch.P.S. I don't have information on the contact reps before failure but I installed one of these in a friends house to switch his Trace 2000 inverter over 10 years ago and he tells me that it still works fine. (So does the inverter)

5Go Power! TS-30 30 Amp Automatic Transfer Switch
By Vladimir Ilioukhov
Very excellent product for its cost. Very easy to install and configure. Works perfectly. Put two in the travel trailer so it switches between invertor, shore power and generator.

5Does what it is supposed to do
By Drewd
Works as advertised. Can't anything better about it. I'd buy it again.I love the time delay when shore/generator power is plugged in. I love the fact it will disconnect my generator if the generator's output voltage gets low.

3Somewhat disappointed
By M. Strasdat
Some time ago i felt the urgent need to own one of these foldable solar panels. This panel was meant to be one of my "zombie apocalypse is coming 2012"-gadgets for my "BOB" or "Get Home"-Bag. Better be prepared! To be honest: Neither am i a serious backpacker, nor a real survivalist, but i do collect knives and survival gear to just own it in case of an emergency, "catastrophes" or "terrorist attacks". Funny, huh?For the review part: For whatever i want to purchase i do A LOT of investigation in advance (Youtube videos, (amazon) reviews, forums, blogs) and always want to spend my money on the ONE best option available. This only works in theory (at least for me...), in practice i nearly always end up in ordering two or more items, because i simply can't decide between them. The solar panel was supposed to power a Galaxy Tab 7 (battery = 3,7v * 4000mah= 14,8wh), a HTC Desire HD (3,7v * 1230mah = 4,5wh), some portable USB Speakers (<2,5wh) and my stone age sony mp3 player (<2,5wh). All these devices have a minimum runtime of one day per charge except the USB speakers. My masterplan: To power all these devices at the same time, you do of course need some type of buffer battery (pack) with at least one 5V/2Amp USB out (necessary to charge the G-Tab) and a capacity of about 30wh. I ended up in orderimg two power packs: Anker2 (8400mah at 3,7V = 31wh) and powergorilla (120wh -> BAMM!!).Each Powerpack has its own advantages / disadvantages (size, weight, capacity, limited outputs, adapters, charge time...), but they both get the job done WITHOUT a solar panel. Both can charge all my equipment at least once per day without seeing a wall outlet or a solar panel.blablabla. To make it short: i thought a panel rated from 10 to 15wp should be able to do the job of charging about 30wh into either battery pack on one day (no matter if it's sunny or cloudy). What should i buy?Goal Zero nomad 13.5:Technology which already has proven to perform (monocrystal, hey, that's what my neighbour got on his roof: I know it works!)Durable and foldablehighly efficientDarn cool looking (i say)made in USA (i thought)Sunlinq/Sunload 12w panel:Rather new technology (CIGS cells - no long term experiences yet)Durable and foldable and lightweight12-15% efficiency compared to 18-20% of goal zerotakes up more space -> unfolded!I took my two panels, my USB stuff and a multimeter outside on a semicloudy day (which is pretty much "standard weather" where i live). Both panels were lying flat on the ground, with no shadows and partly cloudy sky. Both panels delivered about 18V (sunlinq 17 and goal zero higher with 18-19V) with no load. When switching the multimeter to Amp measurement was when my jaw dropped. GZ: 0.04A and Sunlinq: 0,5A (* 12V). Tilting the GZ panel towards the (non visible) sun though increased output to 0,138A. Tilting the sunlinq towards the sun is tough, because its similar to truck canvas and folds together too easy. Did not improve output by much anyhow...To make it short: Both panels fell short in delivering the necessary power for my needs and my weather conditions. The Sunlinq did perform better on this partly cloudy day, but still i needed the whole day to charge the Anker2! It might work for me, but most likely i will upgrade to a 20+ watt panel with CIGS cells. What i liked about the nomad:- The formfactor when unfolded (folded it's quite a brick)- The looks (designed in the US)- Quality seemed alright (made in China)What i disliked:- too bulky when folded (in comparison to the sunload panel)- danger of breaking (Manual says NOT to bend and NOT to walk on the panel - because of the non flexible solarcells - The sunlinq feels softer, more like a tarpaulin). That's propably why they throw in an empty pack in the commercial video.- I do not want to carry a multimeter all day, only to find the correct angle for this panel to perfom. That might be the reason why mono cells are installed on roofs with special calculated angles. This is where they perform best.- weight in comparison to the sunlinq / in relation to it's performance- 4.7mm special connector (SAE on the Sunlinq is motorcycle standard)- Output of the USB out not clearly declared (GZ-Website says 5V and 0,5A, printing on panel says 5Watt - bad transformation? or bad translation?). Did not even get the 0,5 out though, when it was cloudy. The Sunlinq panel is technically identical to the Brunton, Motomaster, Me2 and Sunload panels , as there is only one company which builds/"prints" these CIGS cells ("global solar" in Tucson and Berlin). Differences are only connectorwise. In a perfect world Goal Zero would use CIGS cells for their future productsHope this helps (pretty time consuming as i am native german and have to think twice before i write sth. in english, but i benefit a lot from american reviews and thought i'd share a "kind of" objective review).Update 6/16/12: Got myself 2 higher rated panels for comparison: The P3 with 30wp and the sunlinq 25wp ("sunlinq 5").First impression:The P3 is about 2-3 times thicker than the other sunlinqs (12wp and 25wp). Apart from that, there is no big difference (in performance) at all. The only difference technically is a much higher open circuit voltage for the p3 (28V!!!), which does require a (MPPT?) charge controller as an extra investment. So all in all it depends on whether you are willing to pay nearly double the price for a ridiculous amount of extra performance, a 2yr warranty and a military tag, or not.

5Tough solar panel
By Donald R. Reynolds
If you are wondering whether or not to get this, go ahead and try it. This solar panel is one tough little cookie. I have this solar panel as part of the Goal Zero Sherpa 50 adventure kit. The panel folds up nicely and is easy to carry. I took it to Afghanistan with me this year, and it still works good. Sure, it has a few scratches on the panels here and there, but it hasn't affected its performance to date. This panel has fallen over due to wind onto my concrete porch floor and did not break. It even fell from my truck (4 feet) onto the driveway and survived!!I can charge my Sherpa 50 watt battery in about 1 and 1/2 days with it.GO ahead and buy it!!

5Output higher that promised
By D. Webber
This is my third Goal Zero purchase and I was pleased and surprised to find that the output measure 20.1 watts when measured (without load) in direct September sunlight in southwest Missouri. I purchased this unit as a more powerful addition to the Nomad 7 which I use when backpacking to charge my cell phone and GPS. This unit has twice the panels of the Nomad 7, is still light weight and folds compactly for storage in my backpack. Like the Nomad 7, the Nomad 13.5M has grommets to attach it to the backpack to allow charging while on the move.I did not see the connection to directly attach the Guide 10 or Guide 10 Plus battery packs that are the mainstay of the Nomad 7; but in addition to the standard USB port for general electronic device charging it does come with the plug to directly charge the Escape 150, a standard 12 V. auto plug connector, and a connection to chain connect other Goal Zero panels. I plan to contact Goal Zero to see what options are available to connect the Guide 10 battery packs to the Nomad 13.5M or to see if I've simply overlooked the obvious connection.I haven't taken this panel into the woods yet but I have placed it on the dash and used it to charge my android via the USB and the 12 V car charger connection as I drive home from work. Everything I've looked at so far on this unit suggest that it charges at least twice as fast as the Nomad 7 which was my first Goal Zero purchase. I'm very pleased with all the Goal Zero products I've purchased to date.I also have to say a good word about the customer support I received when my Escape 150 didn't perform to expectations after the first couple weeks of use. I sent an email to the support line and received a prompt response with some special instructions to reset the battery. The instructions worked great for the next charge but the problem came back a week later. A second email to the company letting them know that the problem had returned was all it took and they sent a replacement battery. No hassle, no arguments, and no waiting for the bad battery to be returned or shipping charges. Even though I was initially uneasy and concerned that I experienced a problem with the Escape 150 immediately after purchase the excellent customer support convinced me that this was a company that stands behind their products and that I could trust. As a result of this customer service I now own the Nomad 13.5 and the Goal Zero Boulder 15 solar panel in addition to my previous purchases.

5Very Good! Works with 24-52v Plug in Grid Tie Inverter
By Edward Lee
I finally found a grid tie inverter on Amazon that works with this panel - the 500W 24-52v Mass Power Inverter. The 300W inverters only go up to 30V, and when I tested this panel with my multimeter, I read 31.4V. Since this solar panel is out of range for the 10.8v-30v 300W inverter I only saw a red fault led. I bought the 500W 24-52V, then tried it with the 500W and it works. After I plugged everything in, the green lights start to run. I measured 1.5A and 178W input using Kill-a-WattI bought the MC4 plugs, 10AWG solar panel wire, inverter, and solar panel here on Amazon. So now that I know this works, I'll get the rest of the panels I need.Update:Make sure that the 10AWG wire from the panel to the inverter is no longer than 3 feet. I can get 200W instead of 178W. I suppose due to loss. Also the 600W 24-60v inverter will support two of these panels unlike the 500W versions. I used 3/8 ring terminals from Home Depot.

4Great product. Great output.
By NC Mtn man
Great product. Great output. Hooked up two in parallel. They charge the battery bank in my small off grid mtn cabin enough to run the refrigerator and fluorescent lights 24 hours a day. Plus I did an hours worth of vacuuming, and even used the table saw one day. I had plenty of charge to spare. They were comparable to the Kyocera models, however shipping is free for these.

5Great Panel with great customer service
By 64 Driver
I've bought 8 of these panels for remote power for my Fifth Wheel.Panels are very well manufactured. I dropped an 18V battery for my cordless drill 9 feet on to the front of a panel. The glass was only scuffed. You may be assured of five star customer service from both Amazon, and Grape Solar for these panels. Since I ordered them one at a time, I'm convinced I'll only buy Grape Solar from Amazon. Both are awesome!Panels come bubble wrapped and sandwiched between two wooden pallets.Save yourself some money: buy eye electrical connectors and cut off those "standard solar" connectors, crimp on the eye connectors, and attach individually to 8 gauge wire from a local hardware store acting as a bus.Truly a Grape product!

4At a cheaper price, a good unit
By Dave Plummer
I bought three of these at Costco for $199 a piece. The charge controller is adequate to the task but there's no display, other than "charging/charged" lights. If you want to know your amps or voltage, you're out of luck (without a separate ammeter). The power inverter is nice, though at 200W its overkill for a 55W (max) panel set.At noon in Seattle in early March I saw a peak of 40W in direct sun, so the rating seems realistic. In shade they produce (for me, anyway) about half an amp, which is around 7 watts. If you consider a Gator battery (small motorcycle-style gel battery) is 12Ah, that means it could charge one fully in about 5 hours of sun or 2 days of shade.

4Great kit: too bad about warranty service from Coleman/ICP Solar
By Gavin Peters
I picked up this kit for use on my boat. It's great; I can get out one, two or three panels as I need charging; I even sometimes have one panel out while sailing, which is enough to run my autopilot. It's very good. The charge controller I got works well, too.HOWEVER, one of the panels I was sent arrived broken. It took me eight weeks of back and forth with ICP solar to get that one panel replaced. What a pain!

I purchased a coleman 45w kit from amazon and was very pleased. The panels were very well packed and looked great. Everything works as it should with no problem. They had them in stock, i received them only 2 days after I purchased them. I would buy them again.

Brunton Amorphous Solar Panel (15 Watt)

Product Description

We’re committed to bringing outdoor energy alternatives to the masses. For this reason we’ve developed the new SolarFlat rigid solar panel series. SolarFlats provide power to recharge, even when you’re not around. Keep the snowmobile battery charged-up while it sits idle all summer long with a SolarFlat 5. Go a step further and mount a SolarFlat 15 to the roof of your RV or camper and continuously charge your battery everyday, or charge your boat battery while you’re out on the water. Whether your application is power tools, electric fences or DVD players, the SolarFlats answer the call. SolarFlats are designed for optimum performance in any environment. Constructed with amorphous thin film, the weatherproof SolarFlat does not require bright light to function properly. Instead low-light, overcast days can still provide power. Durability is always a primary concern for solar power users. That’s why the SolarFlat frame is built with a special UV inhibitor to make it less susceptible to heat damage, and the solar cells are encased in shatter proof glass. The time has never been better to explore energy alternatives for the outdoors. Take your first steps with Brunton, and marvel at what we can do for your outdoor adventures. 1Bad customer service
By D. Carl
I called OpticsPlanet customer service department to report a damage part and to find out about getting the item replaced. The customer service rep that I spoke to was not much help and ended up hanging up on me. After I called back I was informed (from a different customer service rep) that it would take 10 business days for them to process a return and then an additional 10 business days for a replacement to be sent out. I thought this was crazy, I had already paid for the product and it was going to take another 20 business days before I received the replacement order. I don't plan on buying again from this company due to the bad customer service that I have received. I can't rate the product since I wasn't able to use it but I am rating the customer service that I received.

It wont lessen our dependence on oil, but it will run my camping radio on solar alone. Product does just what you would hope and seems to be durable enough for me. I wish I could run more of my equipment with solar.

4Excellent output for a small pair of panels. Speakers are horrible without modification
By GadgetAddicted
I bought this guy as a nice emergency item and also for camping. I connected the panel to my HTC G2 Android phone while it was playing the radio out of the included Goal0 speakers. I had the panels positioned in a not-so-optimal way with only moderate sunlight and it charged my phone about 12% in an hour WHILE the radio was draining the battery and connected to the external speakers. That battery is rated at 1500mah for anyone who cares about the specifics. The other piece that I purchased alongside this kit was the Goal0 battery charging pod. You can place 4 AA size NIMH batteries in the pod for charging with the solar panel. When there is no sunlight around, you can use your available AA batteries to charge your USB devices. I used the charging pod to recharge my smartphone again at night as well as my Kindle. Honestly, if you have a lot of good quality low self discharge batteries around (Like Eneloops) you can pretty much get away with not buying the solar panel at all, the charging pod will pretty much do the job in the short term.As far as the speaker goes, the sound is AWFUL out of the box. As others have mentioned in their reviews of these speakers, the cones are covered by a heavy cardboard material. I simply took a flathead screwdriver and used it to break the glue seal around the edge of speaker that adheres it to the case. After that, I used the flathead to pry out the speaker from the case. From there you can see the inside of the casing is lined with cardboard, and on that cardboard, there's a fine indentation where the speakers are. I used a boxcutter to cut circles out where the speaker cones are. Place the speakers back in the casing and you're good to go. One note about this modification is that obviously the speakers are more than likely no longer "water resistant" as originally advertised. All in all, very happy with the purchase. I docked one star for the speakers being horrible as they were out of the box.

5Lightweight Way to Recharge Electronics in the Field
By Dave Prescott AZ
I purchased the Nomad 7 / Rockout Combo from Amazon about one month ago and wanted to test it before commenting. It weighed 370 gms / 13.1 oz. on the kitchen scale without any cables. Just like the other Goal Zero products it is well designed and well made using quality materials. If taken care of should last decades (do not throw on the floor or drive the truck over it, like the You Tube videos). It is nice to see the solar panel can take the abuse if an accident happens. The solar panels are mounted to a heavy plastic sheet which gives the rigidity needed to protect the thin brittle solar cells (think a thin potato chip strength). The fronts of the solar panels are covered with an unknown clear plastic reminiscent of Tedlar. The outer shell is covered in a material that looks and feels like Cordura, so it should wear very well, most quality backpacks are made of this material. The built-in pouch is a perfect size for the Guide 10 and all but the 12 volt car lighter adapter (which could be carried if you plug it in the regulator / converter and place the large end between the pouch and regulator. I find it is best to carry it externally if you need it. I fold the flap with the regulator / charger behind the solar panel when charging to keep the electronics in the shade. Eight loops (not bungee cord loops) all around the Nomad 7 allow many ways to attach the unit to a pack or sticks for charging. It was easy to attach to my Maxpedition pack with Paracord 550 and charge while I was walking. How does it work? Surprisingly well! I did a lot tests in the Arizona sun in July and August it held up well to sun intensity and heat. This is our monsoon season which means clouds and rain once in a while (intermittent sunlight). The Nomad 7 charged 50 NiMH batteries in the Guide 10 very well under all kinds of sky conditions. Even an overcast sky where the panel did not cast a shadow it still recharged low NiMH batteries in about 6 hours. Using the USB adaptor charged low tech LG cellphone in an hour in normal sunlight (it also charged cellphone using 12V 4W lighter adaptor). So far I have been able to charge a digital camera, Kaito Voyager radio, VHF / UHF transceiver and the Guide 10 in reasonable times. It allows you to use your equipment more since you can now recharge in the field and not be so concerned with conserving battery power. As far as the Rockout Speaker goes, for the size they sound very good with my player. They charge up in an hour with the Nomad 7 Solar Panel. If weight and volume are considerations in a backpack, then you might leave them behind and use earbuds. Otherwise, they are great to have along as a luxury item. If you are car camping, then they are a great asset to the camping experience, nice to listen to music without the earbuds.I am delighted with the Nomad 7 / Rockout Speaker Combo. They are well engineered and perform very well. The Nomad 7 Solar Panel is perfect for light weight backpacking.

5Fantastic for when you are way out there
By R. Burnett
Love this unit and the fact it cost the same even with speakers made it even sweeter. Easy to use, incredibly flexible, and worked great on all my apple products I travel with. Key to best use is direct sun. Worked fantastic by pool and when camping, on the windshield of the car. Charges quick in direct sun. Even charges my iPad, albeit a little slower. Love the speakers. Great sound from a small package and last forever.
